A family holiday: Summer in Niedernsill

Niedernsill is the perfect place for a family holiday. One of the highlights is undoubtedly the natural swimming lake, where sweeping sunbathing lawns, children’s paddling pools and a recreational complex with hydrotherapy pools, volleyball, minigolf, football, skatepark and children’s play area promise fun and relaxation for people of all ages. Enjoy a stroll around the adjoining ‘Luzia-Lacke’, a protected nature reserve where you can observe the native plants and wildlife. With its expansive sunbathing meadows, it is a real draw for keen swimmers young and old. The neighbouring protected landscape area known as ‘Luzia-Lacke’ is perfect for strolling around and spotting the native wildlife. An archery facility is also located beside the natural swimming lake. It offers taster courses for beginners, while advanced bowmen can also show off their skills on the archery course.

WINTER IN NIEDERNSILL

In winter, Niedernsill really comes into its own as the quintessential charming alpine village. The dreamlike winter landscape is an astonishing sight, while also offering a unique winter experience. Whether it’s a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride, high-octane sledding, gently gliding along on a cross-country ski route or embarking on a long winter walk, perhaps on snowshoes, Niedernsill offers a wealth of options that are just waiting to be discovered. Winter holidays in the Alps don’t get much more idyllic than this!

SKIING IN NIEDERNSILL AND PIESENDORF

Right on the doorstep, the Niedernsill ski resort has a 1 km piste for skiing and snowboarding. Guests are transported via two tow lifts. This winter sports resort is set between 838 and 985 m high in the mountains. It offers varied, levelled terrain, making it ideal for beginners and families who love skiing. Ski courses are offered at both lifts.

The Nagelköpfl–Piesendorf ski resort (5 mins’ drive) is also very close by. Beginners and intermediate skiers are well catered for, with 2.5 kilometres of pistes. The winter sports resort is set between 785 and 900 m high in the mountains.

NAGLKÖPFL ADVENTURE MOUNTAIN

The Naglköpfl is a striking hill between Piesendorf and Niedernsill. It can be accessed via Piesendorf, or you can also hike over from Niedernsill. With its plethora of recreational options, the Naglköpfl really comes into its own as an ‘adventure mountain’ in winter. The floodlit toboggan run is a particular highlight, providing superb winter fun. The fun toboggan run on the Naglköpfl is a comfortable, safe alternative: the toboggans have integrated brakes and a bracket that allows you to hang the toboggan onto the tow lift with ease.

Visitors to the Naglköpfl can also enjoy snow tubing and a one-man bob. In other words, it’s all set up to offer plenty of fun to visitors of all ages.
